About Me

A Family Vehicle

For the first 10 years of my life, I was an only child. Then, my younger sister was born. She definitely changed our family for the better. However, after my sister’s arrival, my parents soon discovered the family needed more space. Our house suddenly became too small. In addition to our home, my parents decided the family needed a larger vehicle. So they set out to purchase a minivan. They fell in love with a blue one at a local auto dealership. The kind salesperson allowed my parents to test drive the minivan over an entire weekend. After keeping the automobile for two days, my parents were hooked. On this blog, I hope you will be inspired to begin your search for the vehicle your family will make unforgettable memories in for the next several years.

Why Two Car Families Should Consider Replacing Both Cars At Once

Being in a two car family means double the abilities for moving around, but it also means double the maintenance and double the replacements later on. Many couples choose to replace their cars in tandem, allowing the deterioration of the vehicles to determine when the cars get replaced. Another method for vehicle replacement that could make life easier for the family is to replace both vehicles at once. Here are four reasons you should replace both vehicles in one visit to an auto dealership.

One hit to the credit

If you like to get the best rate for your car, you may apply through your own bank or credit union for an auto loan, plus apply with the car dealers that you see. If you replace each vehicle at different times, you will have more hits on your credit than if you apply for a joint loan all at once. Also, having both of the incomes included on the credit application may net you approval for more money, meaning that you can get better cars that you would have if you may have applied alone.

You know that you qualify

Going into the dealership just to hear that you do not qualify at the current time to buy a car can be disheartening. Depending on your current credit usage, big purchases, and a number of items, you may find that after one spouse buys a car, you do not qualify to yet purchase a new or used car through financing. When you replace the cars in one swoop, when you both qualify, no one has to deal with a vehicle that is broken down for a long period of time.

No one fights over the (good) car

Knowing that everyone in your life is safe can give you a great peace of mind. By replacing both of the cars at one time, you know that both you and your spouse have vehicles that are in good running condition. There will also be no arguing about who drives the new, nice car and who takes the other car each morning before everyone leaves.

Possible decrease in overall price

Along with higher qualifications with two people, you may also qualify for a deeper price cut from both new car dealers and used car dealer by purchasing more than one car. Knowing that they will make two sales from the inventory instead of one will give dealers the incentive to throw in extras or offer a better rate for the vehicles. Buying two cars in one shot may save you more money than waiting around to replace one after the other. For more information, talk to a professional like Chuck Colvin Ford Nissan.
