About Me

A Family Vehicle

For the first 10 years of my life, I was an only child. Then, my younger sister was born. She definitely changed our family for the better. However, after my sister’s arrival, my parents soon discovered the family needed more space. Our house suddenly became too small. In addition to our home, my parents decided the family needed a larger vehicle. So they set out to purchase a minivan. They fell in love with a blue one at a local auto dealership. The kind salesperson allowed my parents to test drive the minivan over an entire weekend. After keeping the automobile for two days, my parents were hooked. On this blog, I hope you will be inspired to begin your search for the vehicle your family will make unforgettable memories in for the next several years.

2 Regular Maintenance Tasks For Your Car

Your car is a large investment. That means that you want to make sure that you are taking care of it. If you have regular maintenance done on your car, it will last longer, and you will be able to take care of problems before they get too big and expensive to easily repair. So, what are some of the things that you should have a mechanic do for your car to make sure it stays in good shape?

Oil Change

One of the things that you need to do regularly is have the oil changed. The oil in your engine acts as a lubricant and keeps the pistons from seizing up in the cylinders as they go up and down, powering the engine. The problem is that as the oil is circulated through the engine, it will eventually start to break down, get dirty, and pick up little bits of debris. That will make the oil less effective and can cause your car to break down. While it was once recommended to change your oil around every 3000 miles or so, modern synthetic oils and newer refining processes means the oil in your car doesn't need to be changed as frequently. In order to find out how frequently you should have your oil changed, you should check your owner's manual or talk to an automotive repair service. You should also be able to find out what kind of oil your car needs.

Balance and Alignment

Another thing that you should do regularly is have your tires balanced and aligned. If you live in a place where you need snow tires, then you can get your tires balanced and aligned when you switch out your regular tires and snow tires. Balancing and aligning your tires will make sure that they are pointed straight ahead while you drive, and that you are going to get a really comfortable ride. You should also get your tires rotated when you get them balanced and aligned. Rotating your tires will also allow them to wear evenly, which will cause them to last longer. When your tires are rotated, the rear driver's side tire would become the front passenger's tire, and the other tires would switch in the same pattern.

Keeping your car running as long as possible gives you the best return on your investment. Talk to a car repair mechanic for more information.
